On August 31, 2009 my husband was approached by our neighbor who has taken on a second job as a representative of a contracting company. He told him he could get us a new roof because of a hail storm last year. My husband then came in and told me this and I said absolutely not because my cousins are roofers and if any one is going to do the roof it is going to be them. He then said he told him no because my cousins would do it. Neighbor said they can subcontract. I again said "NO". My husband never brought anything to me as the only thing given to him was a form in how to make a claim on insurance. The adjuster came out on 9-10-09 and approved us for a new roof. I again told my husband absolutely not. I then asked my husband if he signed something and he said he thought he signed a piece of paper to go ahead with an inspection. I told him immediately to go and get this piece of paper. It is an agreement. There are no prices on there but I noticed that it says you only have three days to cancel the agreement from the date of the signing. Again this document was signed on the 31st of August and my husband was never given a copy. I also noticed that my name is listed on the top of the agreement along with my husbands. I did not sign this agreement. Can we be bound to this agreement? I am also listed as the homeowner in my state and I did not sign agreement nor do I authorize this company to act on my behalf.
I look forward to any and all answers.
