Agreement

1) He is a teacher (OK)

2) They are a teacher (??)

3) They are teachers (??)

'They' is a plural pronoun and "a teacher' is a countable single noun'

I want to say that their job is a teacher, so I wrote 2). However, I'm not sure if 2) is correct or not

Sometimes it is difficult to think about agreement between a subject and a complement

Could you explain this issue?

This is fun and games. The subject is singular and the complement is plural. It's a good sentence.
