Agent'(s) books?

I need to confirm if the above is correct to imply singular or plural of a possesive noun throughout a document.

Hi I've never seen that and it looks quite clumsy and probably not right at all. Surely there is a workaround to it: - The Department may inspect the books of any agent hired by the contractor - In what follows, "Agent's Books" refers to any book in the possession of an agent hired by the contractor Dave

Hi

- The Department may inspect the books of any agent hired by the contractor

- In what follows, "Agent's Books" refers to any book in the possession of an agent hired by the contractor
