"agenda" or "list" or "view"?

Hello,

I'm looking for the right word to describe a feature used in some software. Provisionally, I've decided to use agenda, as the same word is used in the non-English original I'm translating this from. Hopefully, they're not total false friends.

I'm not sure, however, if I can use it that way.

Example:

"...
The [software component name] continuously records the development of business opportunities in an all in one clear and concise agenda.
..."

Is that ok?

Many thanks for any comments!

It is possible to use "agenda" that way. It implies that the items in it will be done in the order they appear in. I don't know exactly what the software produces, so I can't say how appropriate it is here.

  • I suppose "table" is the neutral word for such things, especially when they are laid out with dividing lines and headings.
  • Be aware that in the US, "agenda" can mean "appointment book", a calendar book listing one's upcoming appointments.

Thanks a lot, enoon.

The software is a kind of information system for companies. It is combined of several "modules" each of which has some special features targeted at marketing, accounting, stock control etc. I guess agenda has much to do with the sequence of events, so, perhaps, I'll leave it at that.

Thank you for the "all-in-one" correction, by the way!

I'd use either "table", as enoon suggested, or "spreadsheet".

Ah, spreadsheet! That could be the right word! Emotion: smile Thanks for the suggestion, Ivanhr!

A spreadsheet is a specific layout that is something other than what you describe. I'm going to plump for "chart" here.

I should add some more context to make it clearer:

"...
The [XYZ] continuously records the development of business opportunities in an all-in-one clear and concise agenda/table/spreadsheet. It easily answers your questions as to how big the next possible

Hm, now that you've mentioned it, I realize a spreadsheet is what you see in MS Excel and similar applications, isn't it?

Well, if somebody needs to view an agenda in their software, I guess the layout can either be a simple list, or a table of some sort. How about a list then? I wish I had a picture and knew what it looked like...
