Age

If someone says they are 60, but you think they look around 45, is it rude to say "You don't look that old." I don't think 60 is old. I just don't think the person looks 60..

It would normally be taken as a compliment. You are not saying that their actual age is old, you are saying that they look younger than their actual age.

In this context they are interchangeable.
However, You don't look that age could also be used to say that you look older than you are.

Thanks. In regards to my original sentence, I guess without explaining that I think the 60 year old looks younger than he is, he could think I'm saying that he is old. Is it generally acceptable to eliminate the age and replace it with "that"? For example, instead of saying "You don't look 30 years old", you say "You don't look that old."

Consider this.
A person who is 30 is unlikely to be sensitive about his age.
But a person who is 60 is often sensitive about this.
