Against to - compared to

Hi,

please check these two sentences. I think there is a small difference between these two, but I am not sure..

- "Compared to the stand design XXX , this one shows less artwork"
- "Against stand the design XXX, this one shows less artwork"

One more thing, can I replace the verb "to show" with "to contain" ?

Thanks

Pamela

I would not use the second sentence (it is scrambled in any case). The sentence can be worded in a number of ways to make the same point. In comparison to stand design ***, this one shows less artwork.

  • In comparison to stand design ***, this one shows less artwork.
  • Set against stand design ***, this one shows less artwork.
  • If we compare this to stand design ***, we find it simpler, with less artwork.

Hi,

thank you, it is very clear.

About the choice among the more verbs mentioned below, I think I can say "This stand design contains more artwork than the second one" I mean that the quantity of images is inferior to the quantity shown on the second one.

Please confirm if I am right.

Thank you!

Pamela

Pamela: your sentence is fine: "This stand design contains more artwork than the second one."
But it means the opposite of your explanation. It means that design #1 has more (quantity) than #2. So the quantity (number) of images is superior to the quantity of images of the second.
