Again on the lyrics from Thinking Out Loud

Please, consider the following lyrics:

I'm thinkin' bout how
People fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Me, I fall in love with you every single day
I just wanna tell you I am

I'm concentrating on the last line: wouldn't it be more correct to say:
' I just wanna tell you I DO'?

Perhaps the writer means I just wanna tell you I am in love with you. Or perhaps he was thinking of I do but changed it to I am because that rhymes a little better with hand . It's easy to find errors in song lyrics.
