again, off sentences

I took the money off his pocket.

I went off to the shop.

I used to read many books, but I have gone off of it recently.

Are these sentences correct?

Could you tell me why "out of" and why not "off"? It sounds good also with "off" to my ear.

The money is in his pocket. You take the money out of his pocket.

Pockets cannot have something on top of them, so you cannot take something off them

I used to read many books, but I have gone off of it recently. reading recently. nb - it is informal to use"off of", avoid this.
