after work Friday

Great job, everyone! Let's get together after work Friday to celebrate.

Teachers,

Why there is no "on" the preposition before Friday. This is the sentence I found in a passage.

Please advise.

Hi LC

Although it is correct to use on in this sentence, in speech, you might hear people omit it. "See you Sunday" or "I'll be there Friday" are both examples of what you might hear. The word on is assumed to mean "this up-coming Friday," or whatever the closest day is.

I do believe in that particular sentence 'on' sounds better.

Appreciate that. Thanks.
