After water was sprinkled onto his face

Dear all,

Please see the following sentences and tell me which of them is correct. I think that there is dangling participles in the first sentence. (Actually I am not sure about the usage "there is dangling participles in the") . I'd like to get your opinion on this.

1) He fell into unconsciousness but, after sprinkling water onto his face, he regained consciousness/he came to.

2) He became unconscious but, after water was sprinkled onto his face, he came to.
