After the library

(1) After I left the library, I went shopping.

(2) After the library, I went shopping.

I am sure (1) is correct. Some of my non-native English speaking friends took "I left" out of the first sentence and rewrote it. (2) is the rewritten one. I am not sure if the second sentence makes sense.

Please help us. Thanks a lot.

Yes, it makes sense. In conversational English it might be used as an abbreviated way of saying "After going to / visiting the library, I went shopping", or something like that. It does not especially evoke the idea of "after I left the library", but often this distinction may not be an import
