After seeing him looking or after seeing him look

Hi,

Which one is grammatically correct?

After seeing him looking at me, I waved at him.

After seeing him look at me, I waved at him.

They are both fine. An active verb of perception (see) can be followed by a plain infinitive or a present participle. CB

I would agree with CB. If a difference is perceptible, it is that "looking" presents the action in progress, while "look" presents it as a completed whole.

Both are fine. 'Looking' emphasises the duration of his seeing you, whereas 'look' states the fact of seeing you, a completed action.
