YankeeAlthough there might possibly be a couple of exceptions to this "rule", I can't think of any at the moment. I suppose the "reason" for this might be the simple fact that the noun in such a hyphenated adjective is no longer acting as a noun. Instead, it is functioning as (part of) the adjective.I hope you won't mind my asking
