After or later ?, how long is it since... or how long has it been since .......?

Hello,
I have two questions.
My first question ; Which one is correct ? : I am going abroad 2 days later / after 2 days.

As for my second question : for example, a friend of mine hasn't visited his family for a long time,
now which question should I ask ? How long is it since you visited your family ?
or how long has it been since you visited your family ?

Thanks for your help in advance.
