After make and let, the verb remain in bare form?

Only these two words? In a totally bare form? Not evening changing to other tense or adding "s"?

Uncle Jim made him understand how to use the gun.

Aunty Lynn let her go into the forbidden forest by herself. (in past tense)

are the above two sentences correct? If so, are there any other words have the same property too - only bare verb after them.

Much thanks for helping.
