After I have started earning

Is the following sentence grammatical?

After I have started/start earning, I have realized how much money I have wasted demanding silly things from parents. Should I use present perfect tense or simple present tense after 'after'?

Top answer

cat desk After I have started /start earning, I have realized how much money I have wasted demanding silly things from parents. The sentence is all in the past simple. "After I started earning" is a mention of time, so the present perfect is not appropriate.

No. Simple past is required there.
