two people begin talking during a club meeting.

P1: I think I've heard the name. How did you find it?

P1: Well, I'm glad to see you back.

P2: I 'm happy to be back. Traveling is nice, but after all is said and done, there's no place like home.

Dear Lynn3,

It means «despite that».

«Travelling is nice, but despite the fact that it is nice, there is no place like home.»

Or--

After I tell you every nice thing I experienced in every nice place I've been during my travels, and after doing all the nice things that I was able to do in all those nice places, I still think there is nothing as nice as being at home.

That's interesting. I'm more used to hearing "after all" or "when all is said and done"; but not the composite version.

Is "after all is said and done" a saying?

Yes and it's a yukky cliched meaningless one as well so don't use it. Likewise I want to ban anyone from ever saying 'at the end of the day'.
