Doctor in New York told him if he hadn't moved back he would've died in Africa.

Is this snetence correct?

I think it's correct but should start with "His doctor" or "The doctor", or similar. Of course, to me it implies that he moved back to the city or state of New York, so if that is not correct then the sentence would need ammending accordingly.
