Affection for and towards

Hi

I see preposition for after affection being used commonly.

He had a great affection for his nephew.

Is towards used in place of for to convey the same meaning?

Please give your views.

  • Suresh Yes, "affection towards" conveys the same meaning as "affection for"; however, "affection towards" has hardly been used at all in the last 100 years when compared to the use of "affection for".
