I was reading a Certificate of Insurance and one of the sentences caught my attention. What is the meaning of the word "affected" in this context?
The sentence is " This is to certify that we, XXXXX Services, sworn insurance brokers at Rotterdam, The Netherlands, have affected the following Construction "All Risks" insurance".
Is it me who does not know the meaning of the word in that context or is it wrong? (I'm guessing the person who wrote it is not a native speaker of English either).
Thank you ;-)
