Commercial promotion has been significantly widespread in today world. While I acknowledge that advertisement has some positive impacts, I firmly believe that it can also cause several negative influences on our lives.
On the one hand, I agree that there would be some advantages created by advertisement. First and foremost, advertising play a pivotal role in the operation and expansion of a business. Thanks to the development of technology and the advent of the Internet, advertising these days acts as an essential tool for companies to promote and bring their products closer to clients. As a result, those having effective advertisements for publicity campaigns would gain more profits due to a growing number of customers. In addition, promotion provides people with a wide range of useful information about goods; therefore, customers would dig deep insight into the advertised products and make a proper purchase.
On the other hand, I am convinced that several drawbacks inherent in advertising. Firstly, numerous quick services restaurants such as McDonald’s and KFC aim at children these days which is often associated with the increasing intake of fast food among them. Obviously, children can be easily affected in a negative way by those advertisements since they hardly have the cognitive ability to recognise the persuasive intent of advertising which may make the food industry marketing tactics highly susceptible. Besides, flashy adverts on television, magazines and other forms of media could lead to a tendency for impulse shopping. Customers with spontaneous buying, as a results, are likely to face overspending, which could severely impact on their financial management.
To sum up, it is undeniable that people reap huge benefit from the commercial promotion; however, some certain adverts may have detrimental impacts on our lives in different aspects.
