Adverb/Verb request?

Things are flying across the room as Phil is in the midst of a rampage, trashing the office.

1) Is the sentence OK?

2) "Trashing" sounds a bit weak after "rampage". So I was thinking of placing an adverb before it or and maybe using another and stronger verb like "wrecking" or "destroying" instead. What could work in the sentence?
