Adverbs versus helping verb

I know they both modify verbs but what is the difference in how they modify them?

Adverbs modify verbs, as you said:

You speak English WELL. (How you speak English)

Eat MORE SLOWLY, please. (How you eat)

Tom drives CAREFULLY. (How he drives)

Linking verbs do not modify adverbs.

Linking verbs connect nouns/pronouns with nouns, adjectives, or pronouns:
