Adverbs before adjectives

What's the difference between pretty and quite when being used before adjectives?

pretty good is a weak way of saying good. Good, but not great.
quite good is a strong way of saying good. Completely good.

At least that's how it is in my American English.

"Quite" is typically more emphatic than "pretty." Some examples:
