Adverbs

Hi, I have a Collins Cobuild Advanced Learner's English Dictionary and was looking for the definition of the word 'outdoors.' I found out it is an adverb. The entry had these examples. Can you tell me why they are adverbs. I think adverbs tell of why, how and the degree of something.

It was warm enough to be outdoors.

The ceremony was being held outdoors.
