Adverbial phrase?

Hello,
Would you please help clarify this sentence below?

"I am not going out there, hurting myself!!" Could I also say "I am not going out there to hurt myself!"? Grammar wise, is it o.k to use "To hurt,' instead of ", hurting"? Why so?

Thank you.

  • Macdaddynyc I am not going out there, hurting myself!!
  • You could not really say that and be understood.
  • "?
  • If your goal would be to hurt yourself, then yes.
  • But perhaps you mean this: I am not going out there and hurting myself.
