Adverbial

Hello,

1. you can barrow my car if you want it.

The above sentence is a complex sentence having a subordinate clause "if you want it".

But, the book says that the subordinate clause functions as an adverbial in the above sentence.

Could any one explain the adverbial behaviour of the "if you want it"?
