Could you tell me what are differences between the two pairs below in terms of their semantics? Thank you

1. John also phoned Sue.
John phoned Sue also.

2. I really don't know him.

1. John also phoned Sue.
John phoned Sue also. In my opinion, placing 'also' at the end is close to being non-standard English.

2. I really don't know him. To me, this makes the 'really' more emphatic.
I don't really know him.
