Adverb or Adjective??

I really wonder whether adverb can describe noun or pronoun.
What do you think this sentence?

'We lost almost anything'

Is 'almost' an adjective or adverb?
Dictionary states that 'almost' is an adverb, not an adjective

"We lost almost anything" doesn't make sense, so let's change it to "We lost almost everything". com/dictionary/almost [2 ] (this forum is not handling the URL properly; you'll need to type the closing square bracket).   • I think that some dictionaries don't discriminate and just lump these in with adjectives.
