Adverb clauses

Two of the three underlined phrases contain an error related to adverb clauses and reduction. Please check my answers, if I make a mistakes, please correct me and explain to me why it is wrong. Thanks a lot in advance.

If the humanities are concerned with culture in an individual sense, theyy are also concerned with it in an anthropological sense. The child's mind is cultivated, it develops and an individual acquires habits, beliefs and values. When use the word culture in this sense, it ofen helps to compare it to the cultivating that takes place in biology.

The child's mind is cultivated..--> If( or when??) the child's mind is cultivated....

When use the .....> when the word culture is used in this sense or when using the word culture in this sense...
