Adverb

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, which runs the National Stalking Helpline, warned that failure to take action on stalking could lead to an escalation in violence and potentially death.


I have found the above sentence in today's Guardian Newspaper. My question is that why "potentially death" is here?To me , it should be potential death. Plz explain someone.
