I new in this forum, hopefully in this forum it will make more better of my english as second language. My first question about the "adverb", can anyone can give example and simply way to understand it. 10Q

Hi

Adverbs say something about something else in a sentence.

They can say something about:
- a whole sentence (Similarly, you can also use your creditcard for paying at restaurants.)
- an adjective (That's a very beautiful poem.
- another adverb (That's written extraordinarily well.
- verbs (That's written well.

The words in bold are the adverbs and underlined parts are what they refer to.

In a sentence, adverbs typically answer questions like ´how, when, where, and why´. Strictly speaking, we´d better speak of adverbials in that case, but that´s slightly more complicated.

Perhaps you know a thing or two about adjectives. If so, you'll probably know that adjectives refer to 'nouns.'. They describe nouns: black, white, big, small, ugly, beautiful. Adverbs are
basically the same, except that they don't refer to nouns but to the things listed above.

What you should do now is study how they work, what their forms are and how to distinguish them from other words.
