Vocabulary

adventure playground

This (adventure playground) seems to be BrE.
I wonder what is the American equivalent.
Thank you.

As a U.S. resident, I have no idea what an adventure playground is, so I can't tell you what we call it here! Clive, would you like to translate? Could it be what we call an Amusement Park? (roller coasters, merry-go-rounds, shooting galleries, bumper cars, games in which you try to win a big stuffed animal by knocking bottles over with a tennis ball, etc.)

Thank you very much. LDCE (Longman Dic. of Contemporary Eng.) defines 'adventure playground' as 'an area of ground for children to play on, with equipment and structure for climbing on'

An adventure playground is a bit more ambitious than a normal playground. A normal playground might have some swings, a climbing frame, and a roundabout. An adventure playground would have more challenging climbing frames, maybe a zipwire, big chunky wood bridges, chain bridges, rope ladders etc, and are for slightly older children.

I agree with Nona the brit. And I think adventure playground may need a ticket to enter. And a normal playgrond often appears in a community.
