'Advent' is fine.
No capital S.

'Had to vanish' is not quite right.

Is it wrong here? Can you please tell me why? I thought it would mean that they were 'forced' to vanish.(use of 'had to' gave me that hint)

It sounds a bit like 'they were given an obligation to vanish',
in the same way that I might say
My wife gave me a shopping list yesterday. I had to buy milk and bananas.
