The cost of international travel is decreasing and tourism is growing. What are the
advantages and disadvantages of increasing tourism activities in different countries?

It is true that tourism is gradually increasing globally. In my opinions, global tourism brings a lot
of pros and cons in terms of economic, culture and local people.

On the one hand, personal and economic perspectives are beneficial from the growth of tourism
industry. First of all, for personal perspective, global travel enables people to enjoy leisure
activities such as do sight seeing or taste new cuisine. Furthermore, broaden knowledge through
experience different custom and culture is one of many advantages that many tourists consider
while traveling abroad. In fact, after every trips, people seems to have wide-opened mind due to
new experience in foreign countries. For economic aspect, international tourism also brings a lot
of advantages. A majority of economy prosperity results from increased tourism through
shopping which is an integral part when travel in other country. Furthermore, the raise of tourists
also boosts the demand for goods and services, hotels, entertaiments, and that also contribute to
the economy situation. For example, many hotels organise extra services such as bike renting,
spa activities to serve variety demand of customers. Such services create more jobs for local
residents and mitigate the unemployment rate.

On the other hand, the inglammation of environmental and cultural problems are also stemed
from the development of international tourism. First of all, low awareness of tourists can harm
the local environment. For example, many tourist attractions were spoiled severly by polluted
activites such as litter non-degradable materials which is harmful to soil. In addition, if there is
more international tourists, there will be more pressure on local resources such as foods, water
and energy. Because of the limitation of natural resource the the increasing of population in short
term is worth to consider. Secondly, crowed tourist destinations frequently occurs many
problems such as the dreamatically rising cost of goods and services which causes many
detrimental consequences. Tourist hotspots often be rife with social civils which are pick-pocket,
prositution and drug-use which is a detrimental fact for the local nation. Last but not least, while
local people is immersed in serving the demand of tourists, traditional skills die out. The reason
explained for such problems is that traditional works will be replaced by services in the tourism
industry and it may pleig the culture of the nation’s economy.

In conclusion, pros and cons of global tourism development have been a controversial. However,
in my opinions, government should impose stricter regulations on negative problems to fulfill the
intercultural understanding because the advantages that international tourism has carried is worth
to looking at.
