ADVANTAGE or FAVOR (2 sentences please)

How would you properly say these 2 sentences please?

- I do think that Eric does have a strategy in place to help locate Bill even if its not to his advantage.

- He says he's got no money when it suits him/when it's convenient for him/when it's to his advantage, but when he wants to buy something for himself he conveniently has the money to do so.

- I do think that Eric has [stylistic suggestion: avoid repetition of "do" verb] a strategy in place to help locate Bill even if it's not to his advantage. -- Out of context, it's not terribly clear who "his" refers to. - He says he's got no money when it suits him/when it's convenient for him/when it's to his advantage, but when he wants to buy something for himself he conveniently has the money to do so.
