Advanced Grammar In Use Unit 10

Working on Unit 10 Exercise in Advanced Grammar In Use, I got a question.

In the sentence below, I understand that it goes well with "am going to buy" or "am buying" rather than "will buy".

2. Did you know I _______ a new car next week?

But I was wondering why not "will buy". I am asking because Unit 9 of the book says "we can use either 'will' or 'be going to' to talk about something that is planned, or something that we think is likely to happen in the future". It offers "Where will you stay in Berlin?" as an example and takes it to be equivalent to "Where are you going to stay in Berlin?". I totally see that "Where will you stay in Berlin?" is asking about the plan for the trip to Berlin.

So, I was wondering if we can say "Did you know I will buy a new car next week" with the intention of talking about a plan of "buying a new car next week".

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Do you know I will buy a new car next week ? This implies that you have ordered the car, it will be delivered from the factory to the dealership next week, and you have an appointment to accept the car and pay the remainder of the agreed purchase price. You have already put in a deposit of $500, which you will lose if you don't buy it.
