Advanced English

Can I talk like this: The king being killed, the kinsmen are now captured?

Sir, I want to speak highly advanced English like the one spoken by some highly educated BBC journalists unlike most of the native speakers. I want to Speak English the way Boris Johnson speaks, Matt Hancock speaks, and Priti Patel speaks.

Sir, Will it be foolish of me to always try to speak advanced English?

I'd say that a person with excellent English is able to speak English that is appropriate to the situation they are in. For example, you might be talking to a room full of Oxford dons. Or you might be buying a bus ticket.

  • My advice is that you should focus on simplicity and clarity.
  • If you start deliberately trying to make your grammar and vocabulary sound 'advanced', people will easily see what you are trying to do and will see it as a negative.
