Adressing Someone in a Sentence

In this sentence,

"Are we going to go to the store, Mom?"

and

"Give me the phone John."

What are the bolded words called? Are they interjections? They just don't seem to fit in with the Subject-Verb-Object scheme.

Hi, I don't see why you couldn't call them that if you want to. You might also consider saying that each is a proper noun used as a vocative. Clive
