Hello J.,

In British English, you would say:

Additionally to the answers given above, I noticed that "the" sometimes appears before "hospital". Maybe it's AmE or perhaps it's not English-variant-specific but simply if you imply some particular hospital.

Hi MrPedantic,

“She was admitted to hospital yesterday” is past tense right. How if the person still in hospital? Can we use similar sentence?

Thanks

She was admitted to hospital yesterday and she was told that she would have to stay three days. She is still in hospital now.

She was admitted to hospital yesterday but she already left in the afternoon.

jdy6374can i said she admitted in hospital yesterday or she admitted to hospital yesterday.
Thank you.
I would highly suggest admitted to rather than admitted in the hospital. As a former English teacher, I know of no rule suggesting one or the other. I am going with my gut on this one because admitted to sounds better and makes more sense to me.

No. You can't use it in present; as you have said, it was in past. Instead of "She was admitted to hospital", simply use "She is in hospital".
