Thank you.

I thought I could use "is" if the thing in question is still current? My CV is still the same as it was when the recruiter saw it.

That is right, but when a sentence is in the style of reported speech, the tenses are back-shifted.

The recruiter admitted, "Your CV is strong." (Direct speech)
The recruiter admitted that my CV was strong. (Indirect or reported speech)

Thanks. I found a sentence with a similar kind of structure. This was on the Bloomberg website: "Denson, a longtime environmental activist, said he is following OFA’s “party line” of not discussing Keystone even though he is “extremely opposed” to the pipeline.

Can you please explain why it is correct to use "is" in the above example, but not mine.

Thank you

"I like Sarah."

Thank you in advance.

It's all right, I suppose, but I really prefer 'acknowledged' or 'agreed'.

Or this if you are less confident:

The recruiter said he would contact me if he had any suitable vacancies.

If I stated the recruiter's opinion within 1-3 days of him giving it, could I use "is"? I'm a bit confused after reading again the examples about liking Sarah. The speaker might have changed their mind about liking her!
