Adjective or adverb!

Hi!
I am trying to figure out whether "late" and "profusely" are adverbs or adjectives in this sentence

"He arrived late and apologized profusely"

I labeled late as an adverb and profusely as an adjective but I believe this is incorrect?

Anonymous I labeled late as an adverb and profusely as an adjective but I believe this is incorrect? You're right: you're wrong. Both words modify verbs; ergo, they are adverbs.
