Adjective of quality

According to the exercise I have to use an adjective of quality in the sentence; but I couldn't find an appropriate one.

We had to take a _________ route to reach our destination.

My choices are difficult, different, hard.

Which should I use please? Or could you recommend me a better one?

Thanks.
