Hello teachers,
Could you please tell me if the following definition of an adjective complement is accurate or not?
An adjective complement is a phrase or a clause that adds to the meaning of an adjective or modifies it. It can be i. a prepositional phrase, ii. a "to - infinitive" phrase, or iii. a noun clause and it always follows the adjective it complements.
I'm confused with the thing that an adjective complement modifies an adjective. Does an adjective complement
really modify the adjective it complements? Isn't there any difference between modification and complementation of an adjective?
Thank you!
Of course there's a difference. Complements are NOT modifiers. They are different functions.
