ADJECTIVE

Hi,

How do you punctuate when you have the word 'but' in a line of adjectives?

a well-intended, but sweaty (a comma here??) young man
a well-packaged, but expensive gift
a well-dressed, but slightly awakward-in-appearance individual
a good-mannered, but not-so-well-clothed man

In speech the meaning comes across without a pause where the comma is, which usually means that no comma is needed in writing. CB
