Adjective

Sir,

1.Mount Everest is the highest mountin the world.

I have to rewrite in comparative degree without changing meaning.

2.No mountain in the world is higher than Mount Everest.

3.No other mountain in the world is higher than Mount Everest.

Out of (2) and (3) which one is correct?

Thanks.

Sir,

I want moderator's comment on it.

I concur.
2. is the one I'd use, too.

Good eye!

Hello Hanuman

I agree that 'other' is superfluous, and so #2 is better than #3.

However, 'no mountain in the world is higher than Mt Everest' would remain true if every mountain in the world were as high as Mt Everest.

If every other mountain is as high as Mt E., Mt E. is no longer 'the highest mountain in the world'.

I would reword it as:
