Could somebody tell me whether the present tense clause can be used for the following cases?
Prosecutor: Mr. Willy, when you first join the poaching team, did you kill a lion to prove yourself? Mr. Willy: No, I didn't. Prosecutor: And why not? Mr. Willy: I didin't do it because I were forced to do somthing I don't (didn't???) like. I don't like killing rare animal especially those are facing extinction. I joined the poaching team to try to make a living out of it and it didn't take me long to realize that I am(was???) not one of them. These guys kill for fun but I kill for a living.
I just wonder wether Mr. Willy's response is correct. Can he use 'I were forced to do something I don't like' instead of 'I were force to do something I didn't like'? If what he were forced to do happened ten years ago, can he still use 'I don't like'? How about the case 'I am not one of them'? Could somebody tell me when 'it didn't take me long to realize that I am not one of them' be used instead of 'it didn't take me long to realize that I wasn't one of them'?
