Would it be "You are speaking very softly," or "You're speaking very soft."
Someone told me that when the verb deals with your senses, which in this case is sense of hearing, then you use an adjective. Did I inturrpret this incorrectly?

Or you could rephrase your original sentence to say 'Your speaking is very soft'. In cases like this, it's an adjective because it is used to modify/describe a noun or gerund.
