A mother tells her son that, he has to be patient, people will give him small amounts of money here and there and that will add up.
How can I write the sentence?

15 dollars here and there adds up very quickly. Before you know it you'll have the money you need to buy what you want.

Is it correct to say 'small amount of money'?
He will get small amounts of money.
