Addressing/healing

Hello

A homeopathic remedy may be able to provide quick pain relief (in case of sciatica), but it will only be temporary because addressing the underlying condition will take time.

Does "addressing" mean here something like "healing"? "healing the underlying condition"?

In this case "address" means something like "examine and try to deal with", so it is not quite so definite as "heal" or "cure", though presumably that would be the desired end result.
